Best Warehouse Operation of the Year Winners

We’ve been recognised for operational excellence, innovation and people-first performance

At the 2025 Multimodal Awards, we were named Best Warehouse Operation of the Year. While we’re proud of this recognition, what means more is what it represents: the result of hundreds of small, deliberate improvements made by people who care deeply about doing things the right way.

Over the last year, we’ve pushed boundaries, delivering meaningful change across our warehousing network. We’ve welcomed 17 new customers, invested in future-facing technology, improved safety and colleague wellbeing, and made measurable progress towards our carbon reduction targets. Our approach is simple: combine smart thinking with smart tools, stay true to our values, and always act in the long-term interest of our customers and our people.

What makes us different isn’t just what we do, it’s how we do it. Our teams lead with integrity. Our sites are built on safety. Our culture is grounded in inclusivity and continuous learning.

“This award recognises our commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and customer-focused service across our warehousing network, which is underpinned by delivering our four operational pillars.

This achievement is a direct reflection of the hard work, dedication, and high standards maintained by our incredible teams across the business. From front-line operators to support functions, every colleague has played a vital role in delivering consistent, reliable, and best-in-class solutions for our customers.

A huge thank you to all our operations and group support functions colleagues, this win is yours.” – Jason Moscrop, Operations Director

What makes our warehousing Operations award-worthy?

Across our 4.5 million square feet of warehousing space across the UK, with major hubs in Swindon, Sunbury, Sharpness, Ashby, Andover and Manchesterwe manage complex, high volume logistics for customers across FMCG, automotive, high-value and temperature-controlled goods.

We operate both dedicated and multi-user warehousing, supported by a dedicated in house fleet and integrated with robust, secure systems. But it’s how we do it that sets us apart.

We’ve taken real steps over the past year to evolve our operation. That includes:

  • Leading the UK’s first uncrated motorcycle logistics solution
  • Rolling out a 100% lithium-ion MHE strategy.
  • Expanding our cobot deployment through 6RS robotics, enabling one of our sites to process nearly 6,000 orders in a single day, 18% above peak target.
  • Trialling advanced simulation software to optimise site layouts and resourcing, reducing operational disruption for key customers.
  • Establishing a new in-house Solution Design team, promoted entirely from within, delivering enhanced analytics such as heat mapping, centre of gravity modelling and workflow studies.

Powered by People, Led by Values

At the core of our operations is a team of over 800 skilled colleagues across warehouse, distribution and support roles, each one aligned to our values of Connected, Supportive, Progressive and Resilient.

Whether managing intake, driving automation projects, or delivering customer service, our colleagues take pride in doing the job properly, because that’s what lasting partnerships are built on.

Our warehousing operations are shaped by four core pillars: People and Development, Safety and Compliance, Continuous Improvement and Customer Excellence. These principles guide every decision we make, from how we develop our colleagues to how we invest in technology and infrastructure. Over the past year, we have delivered measurable improvements across our network, including a 31% reduction in commercial fleet emissions, 33% of energy now sourced from renewables, and the removal of over 100 truck journeys through intelligent delivery consolidation. This progress is supported by our sustainability linked funding model, which ties environmental performance directly to financial outcomes.

Safety, security and inclusivity remain central to our operations. We have maintained nine consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards thanks to proactive reporting systems and site-led safety teams. Across our business, more than 2,600 training hours have been delivered, 10 new apprentices have joined, and digital tools have been introduced to support our people and customers. We are also proud to operate with Cyber Essentials Plus certification, maintaining robust standards of data protection and operational resilience. Our network is not only operationally strong, but built to evolve. We are led by values and driven by people who take pride in doing things properly.

This award is a moment of recognition, and we are incredibly proud of our teams.
