What is Equality

Achieving an inclusive culture

Michael Young

Apprentice

Why did you choose an apprenticeship rather than continue your education?

I’ve chosen an apprenticeship as I felt as though college wasn’t for me and wanted to go into a position offering more ‘hands-on’ real world experience and it’s great to be a part of that.

How long have you been with Howard Tenens Logistics?

I’ve been working at the Ashby site for six months.

What having you been working on?

I work with the stock within the warehouse, dealing with everything that comes in and goes out, as well as dealing with any discrepancies within it. I’ve been able to go through different sections of the warehouse including transport, picking and packing.

What are your hopes for the future?

I’m hoping to reach a managerial position, or even better.

What do you like about working at Howard Tenens Logistics?

Working here makes you feel part of the community. We have town hall meetings, charity days and undertake a lot of engagement activities and it’s great to be a part of that. I am proud to work for Howard Tenens Logistics because they care and give back to others. At the moment, we have a campaign running in support of the Ukraine war - sending products over to help the families and those in need.

What are the benefits of a diverse workforce?

The advantage of working with such a diverse team is being able to draw on the knowledge and experience that they bring from different walks of life.

Would you recommend a career in logistics?

It’s a really good place to start. You can meet people, have fun and learn at the same time.
