Howard Tenens believes the logistics sector has an important role to play if the UK is to meet its European carbon reduction targets
We are one of the earliest pioneers of dual fuel gas and diesel vehicles in the logistics sector, with trials carried out in 2009 after the Tenens Environmental business was set up in 2008.
Tenens Environmental not only explores ways to reduce fuel and energy consumption, but also increases recycling and recovery of waste to add value in environmental performance for our customers.
What is Howard Tenens Doing?
- Low energy, motion detecting warehouse lighting
- Waste minimisation and recycling of packaging materials
- Aerodynamic and low weight trailers
- Dual fuel powered vehicles - 88% of HT fleet over 18 tonnes are dual fuel
Environmental Benefits of Dual Fuel
We have displaced diesel with natural gas, a less carbon intensive fuel which significantly reduces emissions associated with air quality, reducing our customers’ transport carbon footprint by up to 60%.
We have invested in creating our own network of gas stations across the Group which fuel our own fleet and also enable third parties to refuel from our stations too.
We are continually investing in environmental innovation. We are currently installing our first miniature anaerobic digestion plant to create our own gas to run our vehicles, using our customer’s waste products.
