Environmental Policy

As an environmentally and socially responsible company, Howard Tenens aims to minimise the impact of all its operations on the environment. This is accomplished through various initiatives:

• Fuel use reduction by constant monitoring of each vehicle and driver performance
• Driver training from SAFED instructors to develop safe and economical driving styles
• Recycling of up to 80% of all water used in vehicle washes, with water cleaned through filtration and appropriate cleansing liquids
• Remaining water collected, cleaned and disposed of periodically in a legislatively approved method
• Fuel tanks correctly bunded to minimise the risk of a major fuel spill
• An interceptor fitted to fuel pumps to capture any spills caused when re-fuelling; the interceptor is pumped out and disposed of periodically by a legislative approved method
• All employees trained in ways to reduce power consumption
• Drivecam system fitted to road vehicles to ensure considerate and non-wasteful operation of each vehicle
• Consideration of the environmental impact of new suppliers or new products when setting up purchasing agreements
• Separation of waste streams and prioritisation of recycling through an on-site waste management centre
• All night delivery equipment reviewed for quiet operation
• All vehicles reversing alarms disabled during unsociable hours in order to reduce the noise pollution
