We Have Been Shortlisted for A Motor Transport Award!

We’re delighted to share that we’ve been shortlisted for the MTA Low Carbon Award.

At Tenens, we have always believed in taking a long-term view. Sustainability has always formed a key part of that. While we’re focused on our net-zero ambitions for the future, we’re equally committed to making meaningful changes that deliver an immediate impact and ones that deliver mutual value.

Over the last year, we are proud to have achieved our biggest carbon reduction to date while continuing to grow our business.

Much of our focus has been on our transport operations which accounts for the majority of our carbon footprint. We’ve increased our use of renewable fuels, including HVO and biomethane, which now make up more than half of the fuel used across our fleet. We have also continued to invest in newer, more efficient vehicles, driver coaching technology and training to help reduce emissions while maintaining the high levels of service our customers expect.

Across our sites, we have expanded our renewable energy generation through solar power, invested in electric vehicle charging infrastructure and continued the transition to more energy-efficient equipment within our warehouses. At the same time, we have been progressive, trialling battery-electric vehicles and working with industry partners to better understand the technologies that will help shape the future of logistics.

We are proud to report that during 2024/25, we reduced our carbon emissions by 34% compared to the previous year. We’ve also achieved a 55% reduction in average fleet emissions per kilometre against our baseline year, exceeding our 2030 target five years ahead of schedule. These achievements demonstrate what’s possible when sustainability is embedded into everyday decision-making across the business.

This shortlist reflects the collective efforts of colleagues across Howard Tenens. We’re proud of how far we have come, but we are even more excited about what’s next. With our first battery-electric trucks joining the fleet and further investment planned across our network, we’ll continue to explore new ways to reduce our impact and build a more sustainable future for logistics.

We’re honoured to be shortlisted and would like to thank our colleagues, customers and partners for supporting us on the journey so far.
