The perfect blend

The world’s second largest tea manufacturer based in Andover approached Howard Tenens with a warehousing issue. The challenge was to outsource their warehousing and factory support (vend kits going into their production line) in order to reduce costs.

Products were located in two warehouses - Felixstowe and Andover and ‘de-vanning’ of the containers was carried out at Felixstowe. They were then re-loaded onto curtain sided vehicles and despatched to the customer’s own warehouse in Andover.

In line with our partnership approach, Howard Tenens proposed a solution design which entailed collecting containers from Felixstowe and delivering them straight into the Howard Tenens Andover site. The containers are then de-vanned so that the product is consolidated and allocated into specific locations in the warehouse.

Howard Tenens Property Division also built a bespoke warehouse which now stores the various tea products incorporating a separate area for flavoured teas as these can very easily taint the ordinary tea very quickly.

Howard Tenens are exceptionally proud of the fact that they were able to provide a double solution for our customer. Not only did we erect a bespoke building within a 6 month period but also we successfully reduced costs in the supply chain by devanning directly at Howard Tenens Andover rather than at the port of origin.
