Howard Tenens, a leading distribution operator in Swindon, is further developing its transport operations by joining the Pall-Ex network to service the SN postcodes, covering Swindon and surrounding areas, from the middle of May. Howard Tenens’ experience in providing supply chain management services has been proven for over 40 years. The company’s activities cover businesses in manufacturing, retailing and importing. In fulfilling the role of a supply chain partner to its customers, the company can “establish exact needs and offer customer-specific solutions that are achievable,” it said. Howard Tenens’ innovative logistics solutions for both warehousing and distribution services are supported by management integrated control systems. James Moorby, divisional logistics manager, said: “This new venture will bring many benefits to our existing customers and will also allow new customers to be introduced to Howard Tenens’ operations and the care and attention to detail we already provide for deliveries across the UK.” Howard Tenens offers many different transport solutions, ranging from van deliveries to heavy goods specialist equipment movements. In order to allow for ongoing development of its business, the company is investing heavily in new equipment and is currently looking at upgrading the majority of its transport and mechanical handling fleet with a mixture of vehicles. Matt Bibb, divisional director said: “Our success is based on providing a flexible, high quality service, backed up by buildings which are in good condition, staff who are highly trained, a first class security operation and a site which is fully managed by on-site staff.” The Europa site is the largest managed distribution operation in Swindon and although constantly near to full capacity, due to regular planned turnover both office and warehouse space is readily available at all times. Howard Tenens draws its experience from a national network of depots and is one of the largest privately owned logistics businesses in the UK. It employs around 500 people at 10 sites across the south of the country and as far north as Leeds. There are up to 200 vehicles in the fleet at any one time and it has 2.5m sq ft of warehouse space under its control. Tenants are assured of the flexibility required in fast changing markets, with more space available when required and an ability to downsize without incurring severe penalties. Overall, the Howard Tenens policy of providing maximum support for customers in helping them to solve problems and run their businesses smoothly, has proved highly successful and will certainly continue to do so. Howard Tenens has also recently purchased an additional 80,000 sq ft adjoining the site providing further opportunities, including 65,000 sq ft of warehouse space and around 15,000 sq ft of office accommodation. “We also carry out continual investment in the warehouses to improve our facilities and ensure health and safety is paramount within our location,” the company added. Vehicle wash facilities have been upgraded to handle varying trailer types and a water recycling system has been introduced to reduce the impact on the environment. The company employs the latest IT equipment, which is required when handling major contracts such as Honda manufacturing. Car parts are shipped into the Honda manufacturing site across the A419, employing real time consignment tracking capabilities. |
